When I was 15 years old, my family left Taiwan
and immigrated to South America in search of a
better life. The language barrier was so severe
for me that I escaped into art. No wonder. Art was
the only class I could understand without using a
Chinese-Spanish dictionary. Through art class, I
began to express myself visually and found joy in
my new surroundings.

Later, I came to America to study art at the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My college experience was eye opening, and it was there that
I realized how fantastic it would be to make a living creating images rather than having to technically
work for the rest of my life.

Photography creates a momentary but intense
bond with others. I am often surprised at how much
people reveal in front of the camera, knowingly or unknowingly. I am interested in the human condition and try to capture a little humanity in all of my images.
